MARTIAL ARTS

Saturdays
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Originating from Manipur in North India, Thang-ta is a martial arts form that has created balanced warriors and citizens for centuries. The style builds strength, self-awareness, and lightning fast reflexes through graceful movement drills and sword, spear, and shield work. The art form has strong links to South Asian theater traditions and the spiritual and natural heritage of Manipur itself. Many foundational martial philosophies were built into ceremonial and ritual forms that have been passed down through generations. Sutradhar’s classes also include training in Kallaripayattu, an ancient South Indian martial art.
VISUAL ARTS
& STORYTELLING

Each session is guided through a live storytelling session, following a millenia-old history of reinventing myths and encouraging imagination.
